Fluorescent lights illuminated the basement floor at 353 Crown Street in New Haven, Connecticut. The lights blinked and flickered. A faucet dripped and an unopened bottle of gamsol lay paitently in the threshhold between studio G09 and the printshop. Inside a studio at the corner of two adjoining corridors, two artists were talking. One painted and the other printed, but they were both painters.
An elevator dings.
Emerging from its gunmetal doors; first a wheeled ladder, second, an artist pushing the wheeled ladder. They bank right into the pit’s open double doors. Splayed double doors. The sound of a sneeze echoed from the first floor.
“Bless you”
“Thank you”
Tracklights were being adjusted and two artists were talking.
